Teddy’s Artist Statement:
Growing up in the desert wilds of Las Vegas, Nevada, Teddy an Afro-Colombian artist, was inspired by the books and films that lined her family's shelves. On hot summer days, afternoons were spent enjoying epic tales of heroism, humorous and dramatic plays, or silly stories with heartfelt endings. These stories have inspired Teddy to pursue a career in storytelling. And in 2021 she did just that!
With a BFA in animation from the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia, Teddy would go on to work as a character designer, story artist, and illustrator for clients such as Waterford.org, Lowes, and the Federal Reserve.
As an artist and storyteller, Teddys' goal is to capture the imagination and create feelings of comfort and nostalgia. Such as stories with magic and wonder—whether it be witches and fairies or experiencing a shooting star for the first time. Her greatest aspiration is to depict these feelings and invite readers to connect and experience them alongside diverse casts of characters in whom they may see themselves.
